Helen Sungmin Lee, or Janjaa, is an research-based interdisciplinary artist born in Atlanta, raised in Busan, South Korea, and spent seven years in Seoul working as a cultural worker.

Sensory perception is both a way of understanding the world and a gateway to new awareness. I approach art inductively, focusing on creative hypotheses, visual experimentation, and valuing the process over the outcome. For me, artistic propositions are not conclusions but evolving, open-ended constructs that continually reshape through interaction.
I begin with collected references tied to personal experiences, revealing how individuals are intricately entangled in their surroundings, relationships, and society. Through spatial and material metaphors, I seek sensory narratives of interconnection.
